Fear of roller coasters usually comes down to one of three things: fear of heights, of being in an accident, and the fear of being enclosed in restraints. With the right approach, though, you can learn to control these fears and start enjoying the rides for the exciting and safe thrill they offer. In the late 90's, a Harvard Medical School professor was hired by a theme park to develop a cure for "coaster-phobia," discovering various techniques that were useful in controlling stress levels and making the coasters seem more manageable. You can learn to build your confidence, get on your first coaster, and control your emotions along the way. You might even have fun. See Step 1 for more information.
